TMC began operating in 1994 as an international project management and logistics support company with offices in New Mexico, Virginia, and throughout such difficult areas as the Former Soviet Union. Since our founding, we have continued to provide direct support to major U.S. Government agencies and multi-national and Fortune 500 Corporations as they dismantle Cold War Nuclear, Chemical and Biological weapons systems, clean up environmental hazards such as the nuclear reactor site at Chernobyl, detect, prevent and respond to threatening diseases like Avian flu, Brucellosis and Plague. Sponsoring international conferences and providing alternative employment for former weapons scientists helps provides a stable economic environment for these former FSU countries.
Over the past decade, we have grown more than 20 percent per year on average, and we now have twelve offices worldwide, employing more than 300 people. Today, we are a diversified, employee-owned, professional services company. While we continue to increase our core international business we have also added several new high-tech divisions to our portfolio.
We have successfully commercialized numerous advanced technologies originally developed at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, giving us a range of capabilities including materials science and control theory. We have been joined by leading scientists, former senior government officials, foreign affairs experts, and others, and we have developed collaborative relationships with universities and major research centers in public health, finance, international business, and other disciplines.
