Full-Spectrum Project Management
Project management addresses three sources of risk - technical, schedule, and cost. These risks are increased when a project involves overseas work. TMC has the staff and experience to facilitate your project without incident.
TMC has managed complex projects both at home and abroad, applying best practices to achieve repeated success. Our senior managers have all been trained and certified as Project Management Professionals by the internationally-renowned Project Management Institute.
We use an established, formal project management process, with defined objectives, responsibilities and metrics, and we document our results to keep our clients abreast of developments.
Our approach couples on-site supervision by local national employees with project direction from our US-based operations staff. Our local national managers are selected only after a careful screening for management experience and competence, and our US staff have an average of 18 years experience directing and monitoring in-country projects. Our US staff has also undergone continuous professional education by the Project Management Institute, ensuring that our skills are both documented and up to date.
In some circumstances, where a client wishes to retain the responsibility for overseas project management, TMC offers the use of its Project Associates - foreign national employees, trained to exacting standards, who take responsibility for overseeing the completion of major project tasks in remote locations. Our Project Associates act as "honest brokers" for our clients, providing an extension of management controls where circumstances make a prolonged stay by expatriate managers impossible or impractical.
Getting Things Done
Getting things done, on time and at budget, is difficult anywhere. It is a particular challenge in Russia, East Europe, the Trans-Caucasus and Central Asia. Among the obstacles facing western companies:
- Complex and often contradictory political, legal, regulatory, tax and other requirements must be met.
- Corruption, crime and cronyism are often rampant, and can drain a project of its financial and other resources.
- Cultural differences require continuous on-site management to keep things on track.
At TMC, we have successfully managed more than 50 projects throughout Eurasia for clients ranging from government agencies to multi-national corporations. We have been selected for these jobs because we lift the administrative burden of direct management from our clients while meeting or exceeding business, managerial and financial objectives.
We have one other significant advantage that translates to savings for our clients. TMC is officially registered to do business in all the countries where we operate. This means that we have a significant cost advantage over other US firms when it comes time to procure goods and services locally. Coupled with our extensive contacts throughout local and regional governments, and our pool of highly skilled technical, engineering, scientific, administrative and construction labor, our local national presence provides our clients with excellent results at an extremely attractive price.
